The hunt for the buffalo one of the representatives of the Big Five is possible in most countries in southern Africa. The individual countries differ according to the trophy size, rquipment of the camps, trophy fees and hunting style.
In Zimbabwe and Mozambique buffalo are usueall hunted free tangeon which either be addressed on the track or if detected during the game drive they are stalked accordingly. In South Africa buffalos are hunted in large fenced-in hunting areas from 2000ha up to over 10000ha. The hunting method is similar to Zimbabwe with a game drive at the beginning and look for buffalo and stalking afterwards. All areas have good to very good trophy sizes where as in South Africa the likelyhood is higher to get a big one as it is more predictable than in the other countries.

weapons choice
Generally, a large caliber with good stopping power should be selected in the hunt for the buffalo. The minimum caliber is .375 H & H, other suitable caliber are .416 Rem Mag or .416 Rigby and all big game calibers from 375.H & H onwatrds. As projectiles Swift AFrame is proven to be good for Buffalo. It is important that the shooter will cope with the caliber, should therefore train before the Hunting.
